Role Purpose
 
As part of the IT Systems team to build, maintain and administer the hybrid production 24x7 environments to ensure they meet availability, reliability, security, and scalability standards. Maintain and enhance our existing cloud workloads and support the deployment and development of new workloads in the cloud. Work with our DevOps in providing solutions for the development infrastructure and tooling used by our Engineering and Data Science teams. Be a point of contact on technical issues on a variety of components e.g., production systems, test environments, development, and deployment tools.
  
Reporting to:     IT Systems Manager

Main accountabilities and key tasks:

  • Administer and maintain 24X7 production environment, providing support on issue resolution.
  • Ensure effective monitoring of systems is in place to ensure system uptime, security, and performance of IT Infrastructure.
  • Ensure efficient update/upgrade processes are in place across systems and ensure best practices are maintained.
  • Work with the team to analyse and plan infrastructure changes to ensure scalability across systems
  • Use automation processed to increase the efficiency of the team where applicable.
  • Collaborate with other departments on new technologies and support in the process of these roll outs.
  • Work with the Security team to ensure security best practices are followed across systems and that reporting metrics are available.
  • Work with 3rd Party vendors to resolve issues

Critical Interfaces:

  • Engineering – Ensure deployment systems are managed and maintained. Collaborate on production and staging systems for current and new systems
  • Insights and Data Science – to ensure systems used for are reliable and scalable
  • Mobility – to develop and maintain infrastructure for Mobility
  • IT Security – to ensure security policies are implemented across office systems and provide metrics for reporting
  • DevOps – to support DevOps in providing deployment tools, pipelines, and infrastructure to the company.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • 5+ years in a similar role
  • Proven knowledge and experience in Linux Administration
  • Proven knowledge and experience AWS platform.
  • VMWare knowledge in building and supporting virtual environments.
  • Good knowledge / experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with Monitoring solutions
  • Strong understanding of security best practices
  • Hardware / Infrastructure knowledge in building high throughput systems
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Experience with IAC (e.g., Terraform / Cloud Formation) an advantage.
  • Experience of PCI-DSS/GDPR an advantage
