Role Purpose:
Develop and execute the trading strategy to maximize the contribution potential of our partner base and drive sustainable growth in our partners’ commissions.  

Accountable for setting and execution of CarTrawler’s content mgmt. and pricing strategies (car and insurance), as well as CRM and digital marketing strategies.

Accountable for ensuring the effective coordination of activities and priorities across the Trading Squads.
Accountable for developing, leading, and executing cross-functional commercial mgmt. ceremonies and processes, unlocking commercial opportunities through said processes

Reporting to: Chief Revenue Officer 

Main accountabilities and key tasks:

  • Setting and delivering the partner performance targets for the business through the coordination and effective operation of performance management processes across the Trading Squads.
  • Operationalizing and embedding effective cross-functional trading ceremonies and processes, with, for example, the Supply, Partnership, and Data Science teams, to unlock commercial opportunities.
  • Maximizing the business performance of each partner through effective and timely pricing, merchandising, content mgmt., CRM and digital marketing initiatives.
  • Ensuring effective execution and communication of delivery against the CarTrawler trading strategy.
  • Monitoring and communicating trading performance, delivering and managing the execution of timely, performance action plans to address performance opportunities/threats, and ensuring key internal stakeholders are aligned to deliver against the plan.
  • Working in concert with the Data Science & Insights team to develop and ensure the effective operation of the CarTrawler revenue management platform.
  • Ensuring Partner Relationship Managers are equipped with timely and easily understood trading updates and information to align partners on performance and planned initiatives.
  • Anticipate partner needs, and drive focus into initiatives that create easily integrated, scalable, customizable win-win solutions.
  • Working with the Partner Relationship Managers to renew existing partners, while maintaining margins for CarTrawler’s existing business.
  • Accountable for overseeing the development and execution of our digital marketing strategy (spanning: CRM, Paid Media, Campaign Planning, SEO, and Digital Reach) which maximizes customer value, traffic, volume, quality, and ROI.
  • Accountable for management, leadership, and development of the Trading team. 

Knowledge and Experience:

  • At least 7 years experience in a similar/relevant role.
  • Commercial acumen: Ability to understand financial and commercial indicators – possess great attention to detail and ability to prioritize workloads according to business focus and opportunity.
  • Commercial mgmt.: demonstrable history of embedding and operationalizing effective, repeatable cross-functional, performance management processes, across, for example, pricing, content mgmt., digital marketing, and CRM, to meet and exceed commercial targets. Ability to identify and drive cross-functional performance initiatives.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to create, develop, run and deliver results from high-performing teams and to successfully lead on cross-functional project delivery.
  • Strategic thinking & execution: Experience designing and leading complex strategic programs with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Negotiation strategy & execution: history of finding and delivering innovative, profitable solutions to partner conflicts while maintaining happy, sustainable relationships.
  • Effective communication: the ability to synthesize and simplify data insights and to communicate succinctly and impactfully, to influence diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple concurrent projects and drive initiatives in a cross-functional environment

Critical Interfaces:

  • Partner Relationship Management to ensure they are equipped with information, context, and trading updates that can be communicated effectively to Partners to maximize business performance. Work collaboratively to execute the partner renewal plan.
  • Supply and Insurance to receive context on competitiveness and availability of supply, and seek input on pricing, merchandising and sort order tactics.
  • Collaborate with Product & Technology to ensure that product priorities are being delivered at pace and are of high-quality Product Marketing (new Sales) to understand new partner key purchase criteria and motivators, as input to car & insurance proposition development. 
  • Business Development/Product Marketing to capture potential partner key purchase criteria and motivators, as input to car & insurance proposition development.
  • Data Science to ensure car and insurance pricing and sort order platform development is aligned with trading objectives.
  • Go-Live team to ensure the seamless transition of new partners from Pre-Go-Live to BAU.
