Role Purpose:
The Finance Business Partner (FBP) Manager will lead a team primarily focused on enabling the business to make better, more informed decisions and identifying commercial opportunities that can add real value to CT. The FBP team works closely with departments across the business, acting in an advisory capacity and supporting departments by;
· Conducting an appropriate financial analysis: to aid effective decision-making and enhance business value
· Seeking out commercial opportunities to create financial value for CarTrawler and execute those opportunities
·Support and influence the operational decision-making in each department across the business through strong commercial and financial acumen

The FBP Manager is a key role within the Finance team and offers the chance to have a real impact on the business, communicating with senior figures/department heads, as well as mentoring and managing a team of talented professionals. The role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to influence and constructively challenge wider business functions where appropriate, and excellent commercial acumen.

Reporting to: Head of Commercial Finance

Main accountabilities and key tasks:

  • Play a leading role in driving the focus of the FBP team towards our value creation mandate by ensuring FBP teams consistently focus on identifying commercial opportunities and executing those opportunities to realize value for CarTrawler
  • Ensure the timely and accurate completion of the FBP suite of reports for the relevant functions (Trading Performance, etc) and the required month-end procedures
  • Manage and evolve a robust OPEX (Headcount and Non-Headcount) cost reporting framework which gives the Leadership Team (LT) and Budget Holders the ability to view company performance (Actuals vs Plan, Prior year, and Forecast, etc) at the relevant granularity throughout a month.

  • Ensure each FBP fully owns their functions and entire P&L (including the OPEX cost base) by:
  • 1. Providing the appropriate cost reporting to their relevant LT member and other designates to understand the drivers of their cost base and levers available to them to drive change
  • 2. Assisting with the running of the Cost Committee

  • Play a leading role in continuously evolving and improving the FBP processes, leveraging FBP best practices. as well as ensuring consistency in all planning/forecasting models and reporting across the FBP team
  • Establish a Business Partnering function with the Supply team, with a focus on areas such as supplier renewals, rebate negotiations, and financial analysis as required by key stakeholders (LT, Supply etc) to support informed decision making
  • Support the completion of the annual planning process, e.g., annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and long-term plans
  • Develop a strong relationship with the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team to ensure alignment on financial with FBP financials and methodologies
  • Support in the execution of both Finance and wider company strategic priorities

Knowledge and Required Experience

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required
  • Minimum of 4+ years PQE (ACA/CIMA/ACCA); with 3+ years in a finance business partnering/commercial finance function desirable
  • Previous experience in managing a team is a distinct advantage
  • Excellent commercial acumen with a strong purpose-driven focus on creating/adding value
  • Strong ability to influence, particularly with non-finance stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Intermediate/Advanced with MS Office packages, advanced Excel skills, and integrated accounting systems experience
  • SQL Server and Tableau/other BI tools experience a distinct advantage
