CarTrawler announces appointment of Laura Merling as a Non-Executive Director

15th January 2021, Dublin, Ireland: CarTrawler, a leading B2B provider of car rental and mobility solutions to the global travel industry, is pleased to announce the appointment of Laura Merling, Digital Transformation Officer at Google Cloud, as a Non-Executive Director, with effect from 1st of January 2021. Laura brings nearly three decades of experience with Fortune 500 and venture capital-funded start-up companies and will bring substantial expertise in travel and technology to the Board. She currently oversees Customer Experience for Automotive Strategic Accounts at Google Cloud.

We are delighted to welcome Laura to the Board. Laura’s unique background, as a Chief Digital Officer with three Fortune100 companies and now Digital Transformation Officer at Google Cloud, will help us build an even deeper advantage through technology and data.

As vaccines roll out across the world, we expect to see a strong return to international travel this year, with substantial pent-up demand for holidays and business travel seeing many people return to the skies. Car rental is more relevant than ever in a Covid-19 world as consumers feel safer in a private vehicle than in public transport. As restrictions are eased and reintroduced globally, we are seeing booking trends fluctuate accordingly.

In May last year CarTrawler announced a controlling equity investment in excess of €100m from TowerBrook Capital Partners L.P., an international investment management firm. This investment is helping drive CarTrawler’s next stage of growth, as the company looks forward to a strong return to international travel. .
