Role Purpose: 
As the Marketing Communications Manager at CarTrawler, you will play a crucial role in shaping and executing our external communications strategy. You will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, developing compelling content, and ensuring consistent messaging across various channels. This role is instrumental in enhancing CarTrawler's brand presence, reputation, and engagement within travel tech sector. 
 
The Team: 
As the brand owners, the team works tirelessly to enhance the CarTrawler brand awareness to deliver on business objectives. The Marketing team plays a pivotal role within the CarTrawler business acting as central hub for cross-functional collaboration, actively promoting knowledge sharing and open communication between departments. The structure of the team allows for collaboration and shared ownership of the overall Marketing Strategy. We work as a high performing team and have fun while doing so. 
 
Reporting to: Head of Marketing 

Main accountabilities and key tasks: 

  • Strategic Communication Planning: 
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive external brand communications strategy that aligns with the commercial team and broader business goals to achieve key objectives. 
  • Identify and leverage key communication channels and platforms to maximize reach and effectively engage core target audiences across travel sectors, including Airlines, Travel, Loyalty, and Hotels. 
  • Create & own an always on marketing communications calendar for the team and ensure all external communications are delivered as planned. 

  • Content Development & Copywriting: 
  • Create compelling and tailored content as required, to engage and inform target audiences within commercial pipeline and beyond. 
  • Interpret and analyze data to develop newsworthy market insights, positioning CarTrawler as a leader within the B2B Travel Tech sector. 
  • Ensure consistency in messaging across all external communication channels by leading the development of writing style guide for external communications and media engagements. 
  • Work closely with senior brand manager to ensure branding is consistent across all content & assets created. 
  • Provide copywriting guidance and support to other team members, ensuring high-quality content that aligns with CarTrawler's brand voice and messaging. 
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in content development and copywriting to continuously improve the quality and impact of communication materials. 
  • Update website content as required to ensure consistency in messaging and ensure news section is kept updated. 

  • Event communications: 
  • Support the strategic planning and content development at the annual CarTrawler conference, including defining agendas, themes, interview panels, topics, and speaker keynotes. 
  • Lead all aspects of speaker engagements, including sourcing speakers for events, briefing speakers and panelists, securing speaking slots at industry events for CarTrawler subject matter experts (SMEs), and preparing all speakers for presentations. 

  • PR & Media Relations: 
  • Support the Head of Marketing on the execution of the PR strategy, ensuring alignment with overall marketing strategy. 
  • Manage all media interactions, including responding to media queries, writing and distributing press releases, and coordinating with the PR agency to develop and implement a comprehensive PR plan. 
  • Identify and capitalize on media opportunities to enhance CarTrawler's visibility and reputation in the industry. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams to generate compelling story ideas and develop key messaging that resonates with target audiences. 
  • Monitor media coverage and industry trends to provide insights and recommendations for improving PR strategies. 

  • Reactive/Crisis Communication: 
  • Manage CarTrawler’s reactive PR process to ensure the best possible outcomes during crises or unexpected events. 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for media during crises, ensuring timely, accurate, and effective communication. 

  • Stakeholder Engagement: 
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with agency partners. Collaborate with internal senior stakeholders & cross functional teams to gather data, insights and information for effective external communication. 
  • Work closely with internal communications manager to ensure consistency and identifying any opportunities for external comms. 

  • Performance Measurement: 
  • Track and analyse the performance of communication strategies, including but not limited to coverage, share of voice, target audience reach - using data to inform future decisions and optimize outreach efforts. 

  • Budget Management: 
  • Manage the budget for all communications activities, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to maximize impact. 
  • Monitor expenditures against budget, providing regular financial updates and forecasts to the Head of Marketing. 

Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field. 
  • 6years+ Proven experience in corporate communications, preferably within the technology or travel industry. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
