Role Purpose:  
As a Senior Commercial Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in winning new partnerships for CarTrawler, acting as a trusted advisor to the Commercial Deal Team.  You will align your support with the company’s strategic objectives, with responsibilities that including driving the development of commercial proposals, undertaking financial modelling, and optimising commercial procedures. You will contribute data-driven insights, undertake market research and ultimately play a crucial role in securing new business opportunities, ensuring CarTrawler's growth and success. 
 
Reporting to: Head of Commercial Strategy 

Main accountabilities and key tasks:

  • Strategic Alignment: Establish a deep understanding of the Commercial Deal Team's functions, strategic objectives for the year ahead, and how your role supports their efforts, ensuring alignment and mutual success.

  •  Commercial Proposal Development: Lead the development of commercial proposals for large and strategic opportunities, encompassing:
  • Generating diverse commercial options to maximise the conversion of the New Business Pipeline.
  • Utilising financial modelling techniques to create accurate contribution forecasts based on various scenarios and data sources, thus shaping the commercial proposal for each opportunity.
  • Managing the commercial proposal approval process, in collaboration with the Finance Business Partner and the Commercial Deal Team.
  • Contributing to the creation and submission of proposal and RFP documents, emphasising the appeal of the commercial opportunity.
  • If necessary, attending meetings with prospects, which may involve travel.

  • Data-Driven Insights: Provide in-depth analysis and insights by connecting prospects' financial reports and business strategies to our proposals, enhancing the persuasiveness of our commercial offerings.

  • Process Optimisation: Assume a leadership role in establishing efficient processes and commercial procedures, particularly the Deal Framework process, to expedite the commercial proposal approval process.

  • Standardised Assumptions: Collaborate with Trading and Finance to develop standardised approaches and house views for commonly used assumptions in support of commercial proposals, such as conversion rates, pricing structures, and achieved commissions.

  • Commercial Model Enhancement: Contribute to the evolution and optimisation of CarTrawler's commercial and operating models, as well as pricing rate cards, through thorough financial analysis and comprehensive market and competitive research.

  • Planning and Reporting: Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual plans, forecasts, and reporting for the Commercial Deal Team. This information will be communicated to the Leadership Team and the Board to facilitate informed decision-making.

  • Mentorship and Guidance: Act as a mentor and guide for the Commercial Deal Team, imparting your knowledge about the critical commercial considerations when preparing proposals. Highlight the relative importance of key commercial levers and sensitivities in the decision-making process.

Knowledge and Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in commercial analysis, finance or strategy roles.
  • Highly numerate with strong financial and commercial acumen.
  • Exceptional analytical skills, with ability to conduct and create complex analyses and business cases.
  • Ability to distil complex analyses down to easy-to-understand summaries and recommendations, telling a story using data and insight.
  • Creative problem solver, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and drive results.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience of working across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Outstanding attention to detail, able to evaluate data and metrics to spot red flags and opportunities
  • Proficiency in Excel, Tableau, and SQL.
  • Proven track record of task and project ownership, meeting deadlines.
